Palestine Podcast Academy 3: The Personal Economics of Apartheid and Occupation

In our third episode from the Palestine Podcast Academy, graduates Riwaa Abuquta, from Gaza, and Addei Hijazi, from Jerusalem, provide some rarely reported and very personal perspectives concerning the economic impacts of the Israeli occupation in both parts of Palestine.

From the siege on Gaza which prevents businesses from accessing necessary materials to the institutionalized discrimination that impacts shopkeepers and small businesses in Jerusalem, these are some of the hidden forms of Apartheid and oppression that Palestinians must contend with for their daily survival.

The Palestine Podcast Academy is an initiative of Latitude Adjustment Podcast.

The Palestine Podcast Academy would not have been possible without support from our local partners at: Birzeit University’s Media Development Center, We Are Not Numbers, Right to Movement, and Jest Hub.

And a special thanks to Laith Alattar for providing his music for our episodes.

Addei demonstrates the “blanket fort” recording studio method, used by journalists all over the world.
